Position Overview

Shift Lead Position for Edgewater Block Plant.

Coordinate block plant manufacturing activities during assigned shift. Operate block plant and yard equipment alongside block plant tenders.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Execute plant management team's daily shift production plans.

  • Assign plant block plant tenders to specific jobs tasks to ensure shift production plan and plant targets are achieved.

  • Coordinate and adjust work methods to meet work schedules and production targets.

  • Hold daily job and safety briefings for shift crew.

  • Set up, operate, adjust and troubleshoot block plant and yard equipment, including: block plant casting, batching, cubing, transfer systems, forklift and wheel loader.

  • Review work areas and check tools and equipment for defects and safety concerns.

  • Work with customers, site staff and company employees.

  • Various administrative duties include safety training, inspections, reports, etc.

  • Demonstrate equipment and work methods for new employees.

  • Order block plant supplies and equipment.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Block Manufacturing Shift Lead you will perform a wide range of duties within the plant including, but not limited to: Operating a forklift, lifting as much as 40 pounds alone, being on feet all day, following all required safety procedures and general clean-up around the plant.

  • Monitors the operation of concrete block manufacturing machine. Tasks include, removing and installing brick molds, cleaning all parts of the machinery. Shoveling, sweeping and raking up debris from base of machinery. Will also make adjustments to calibration of machine and make general repairs as needed to keep machine operating. Pushes blocks along rollers and arranges them to be placed onto pallets. May climb into machinery to repair parts. Climbs into and works in enclosed space when cleaning out mixer.

  • Use of machines, tools, block plant equipment, equipment monitors, operate forklift and loader, shovel, broom, hoses, hand and power tools, welder, cutting torch, chipper.

  • Technical expertise and mechanical inclination is needed to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant and mobile equipment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively direct work through others while maintaining high safety and quality standards of production.

Requirements:


  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies and promoting a safe work environment.

  • Minimum 1 year previous of Shift Lead experience (Preferred)

  • Forklift experience

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Ability to work Night Shift.

  • Ability to work over 40 hours including weekends
