Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Space Business Development Director position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.
As the Space Business Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving Galapagos' expansion and revenue growth across our United States Space Force and United States Space Command portfolios. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic business opportunities that align with Galapagos' Strategic Plan and associated growth objectives. This role requires you to qualify opportunities, perform capture activities, and establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders. By strategically increasing Galapagos' presence, you will help position the company as a leading player in the space industry.
You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to create comprehensive strategies that drive new business opportunities in both commercial and government sectors. This includes leading market analysis, securing strategic partnerships, and managing the proposal process to ensure growth and success in the space domain.
Compensation Minimum: $205,000
Compensation Maximum: $305,000
Job Requirements:
Skills / Experience Required
Hold an Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
10+ years working with Space Acquisition or Operational Organizations
Existing relationships with IC and DoD Space Organizations
Knowledge of space policy and regulatory environments
Experience working with federal and international space agencies
Strong analytical skills and ability to assess risk and market opportunities
Proficient in CRM software and proposal management tools
Demonstrated success with strategic planning
Ability to proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, including emerging markets, potential clients, strategic partnerships, and innovative products or services
Ability to develop and implement targeted strategies to effectively capture and engage new business prospects
Actively cultivate strong relationships with potential clients, assessing their needs, and crafting tailored proposals to meet their objective
Ability to nurture and expand existing client relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction and partnership growth
Deliver compelling presentations and pitches to both new and existing clients, showcasing the value of the company's offerings
Attend industry conferences and networking events to foster partnerships, gain market insights, and stay informed of evolving industry trends
Create and manage accurate sales forecasts, driving initiatives to meet or exceed business targets
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the company's core competencies, market positioning, and competitive landscape
Excel in communication, negotiation, and relationship-building, with a focus on influencing and engaging stakeholders
Ability to present business opportunities and strategies in a clear, concise manner that facilitates informed decision-making
Leverage a strong analytical and strategic thinking to assess opportunities, risks, and market trends
Exhibit proven business acumen with the ability to find growth opportunities and execute strategic initiatives
Demonstrates excellent writing skills, particularly in crafting responses to government Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Education / Certifications
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, aerospace, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred
Completion of Shipley BD and Capture Training, desire
10-15 years of experience in military related business development and/or a proven track record of bringing in new business
Experience supporting strategic planning
Experience supporting captures and the proposal writing processes
Completion of Shipley BD and Capture Training desired
