Compensation: The starting annual base salary range for this position is $66,670-$80,000.

Vassar College seeks a dynamic individual to join the EOAA/Title IX team as the inaugural Institutional Equity and Title VI Coordinator. The coordinator will serve as the central contact for response and resolution efforts to reports of discrimination and harassment related to race, color, and national origin (including shared ancestry, ethnicity, and religious identities) involving students, faculty, administrators, and staff and institutional compliance with Title VI. This role will report to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity.
This is a part-time, 25-30 hours per week position.
Responsibilities
Conduct intakes and meet with complainants and respondents to inform them of their rights and available resources.
Coordinate supportive measures and oversee prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations and resolution (informal and administrative) of alleged discrimination and harassment based on perceived or protected characteristics.
Maintain an active stance in monitoring the campus environment to quickly identify and address potential issues of discrimination or harassment.
Develop and oversee the implementation of prevention and awareness training, outreach, and educational programming to prevent harassment and discrimination based on race, color, national origin (shared ancestry and ethnic characteristics) and other protected characteristics.
Track trends and data and compile reports related to incident reports and formal complaints of various forms of discrimination and harassment on campus.
Collaborate with campus partners to enhance college-wide efforts to address campus climate concerns and hostile environments caused by discrimination or harassment.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, higher education administration, or other relevant discipline and at least 10 years experience overseeing response and resolution to issues of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct in higher education or other related settings.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience conducting civil rights investigations or facilitating informal or administrative resolution will be considered.
Applicable informal resolution and investigatory training and certification, or ability to obtain such certification within 60 days of employment.
Experience developing and/or delivering training programs for students, faculty, and employees.
Knowledge of best practices and regulatory compliance with Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX.
Demonstrated expertise using trauma-informed practices and crisis de-escalation techniques in the response and resolution of discrimination and harassment complaints involving students and employees, including sexual misconduct cases.
Knowledge and experience using informal resolution practices (e.g., mediation, facilitated dialogue, restorative practices, etc.) with awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural considerations, intersectionality, power dynamics and imbalances, differing concepts of fairness, and emotional intelligence.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen well and maintain neutrality, sensitivity to, and respect individual needs.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality and privacy of involved parties.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, educational psychology, higher education administration, or other relevant discipline.
