Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field and a strong working knowledge of core computer science concepts, including data structures, software engineering, operating systems, computer architecture, and cybersecurity.
Teaching and research experience at the university level; industry experience; administrative experience and committee work at the university level; experience developing an application from design to publication.
Teach computer science courses with a 4/4 teaching load per semester in addition to service and research/publication. Scholarly activity consistent with the teacher-scholar model. Strong commitment to student success and to using online and distance education technology. Teaching assignments may require travel to three teaching sites, evening classes, distance learning classes. Student advising, program assessment, and service. Collaboration with faculty on all campuses to contribute to the formation of a new four-year university based in Eagle Pass. Sul Ross State University is expanding its computer science program from the Alpine campus to the campuses of Rio Grande College. The faculty member will teach computer science courses, work with faculty on all campuses to develop the new program at Rio Grande College, ensure that learning objectives are met, and students are able to transition from lower level to upper-level coursework. The faculty members will also contribute to the gradual transition of Rio Grande College from a remote campus of Sul Ross State University to a new independent four-year university based in Eagle Pass.

On September 29, 2022, the Regents of Texas State University System (TSUS) announced in Eagle Pass, Texas, that the Sul Ross State University (SRSU) Eagle Pass Campus will be transitioning to a comprehensive four-year university. The TSUS is in the planning stages of constructing a multi-million dollar building on a 100-acre campus in Eagle Pass, Texas, that will be the location of a stand-alone four-year University. The Master plan includes nineteen complexes, three residential living student dormitories that will accommodate one thousand students, a student union, an athletic center, a library, and several academic centers. The project's first phase is a $34 million multipurpose building with administrative offices, student activity offices, multi-media rooms, and classrooms. The new facility is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2025. This new position will be an integral part of this phenomenal opportunity to expand existing programs and grow new ones for the new university.
