Overview:

In anticipation of a contract award, Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in managing, optimizing, and integrating key IT systems such as the Integrated Data Repository (IDR) and the Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS). This role will involve deep expertise in CMS’s data management and analytics platforms and is integral to enhancing CMS’s data accessibility, integrity, and security to support improved health outcomes and effective resource utilization.




What Youll do:
  • Technical Guidance: Serve as a technical expert in CMS’s core IT systems, providing strategic recommendations on system enhancements, data integration methods, and analytics best practices to support CMS’s mission.
  • System Optimization: Lead initiatives to improve the functionality, performance, and scalability of CMS systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement best practices in data warehousing, data mining, and data quality.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure all data management activities align with CMS policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, particularly regarding data security, privacy, and compliance with federal guidelines for handling PHI and PII.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation on system processes, data workflows, integration protocols, and technical specifications to ensure consistent, accurate knowledge transfer.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Identify areas of opportunity to improve CMS' operations.


Required knowledge and skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management, IT systems integration, or technical consulting, with at least 5 years in a healthcare or government setting.
    • Strong working knowledge of CMS systems, including experience in data warehousing, data quality management, and data analytics.
    • Familiarity with CMS policies, the Medicaid program, Medicare data, and federal regulations regarding data privacy and security.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in computing languages used at CMS and data integration methodologies.
    • Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and knowledge of data security frameworks.
    • Proficiency in data visualization and analytics tools.

Nice to haves

  • Previous experience supporting CMS programs and familiarity with other CMS data systems,such as Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW) and Health Data Interactive (HDI).
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and CHIP data operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with Agile or Lean methodologies.
