Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Engineer

Location: Morgantown, PA

How You Will Make an Impact?

The APQP Engineer (Advanced Product Quality Planning Engineer) is responsible for overseeing the company documentation (ISO format) and maintaining the QSM where all the company's documentation resides. The APQP Engineer is also a main participate in the New Product Gate Review process; working directly with New Product Committee creating new build documentation and following up with new product reviews with customers.

The Nuts and Bolts

Create work instructions from new product proto-type builds/assemblies prior to production launch.

• Quality liaison for New Product customer feedback.

• Follow up on all Quality actions from the New Product Development projects.

• Create tool work instructions for new tools/fixtures introduced into production.

• Perform training as necessary on new work instructions/Job-Aids/Quality Alerts.

• Work with Quality Product Managers on customer specific work instructions for National Accounts / Commercial and Consumer builds.

• Oversee our documentation program - prepare all documents to the new ISO9001 standard - reorganize and validate our current QSM working with each department.

• Prepare the company for possible ISO9001 certification.

• Become administrator of the EASE program - our Layered Audit program.

• Must be a master trainer for the Morgan Problem Solving Methodology.

• Must understand and create Quality Control Plans.

• Create and maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, responsiveness, and efficiency.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.

• Monitoring and evaluating QMS activities including audit management, management review, change control, document/record control, training, corrective action, risk management and continual improvement.

• Ensure the effectiveness of the corrective action and continual improvement processes to ensure priority, ownership, and accountability.

• Coach and train others in all aspects of the Quality System and application of procedures.

• Any projects assigned by the Global Quality Director.

Required Credentials


  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field
  • Relevant manufacturing and/or engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of the requirements governing the establishment and maintenance of a Quality Management System.
  • Experience as an active contributor on projects with scheduled deliverables.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification/experience required.
  • A preferred candidate would be considered an expert with experience in some of the following areas: implementation and/or management of Quality Systems, Advanced Product Quality Planning, Lean/Six Sigma methods, process control tools or other Quality Core Tools (i.e., FMEA, Control Plan).
  • Vast experience in creating ISO documentation such as Standard Work Instructions, Standard Work.
