Overall Goal:
Under the direction of the Vice President Property, Michael Brown, or other assigned supervisor, perform a variety of tasks to enhance the productivity of the property department. To be successful in this position, a person must be able to independently perform all duties and/or tasks at a satisfactory level. Each task has an impact upon the companys Enterprise-wide Risk Management goals.
Expectations:
Prioritize service complete binding confirmations, broker of record change requests, policy issuance, Inspection ordering, and endorsements as quickly as possible after receipt. The service standards are as follows:
Bind confirmations: Same business day if received by 3pm, else next business day Broker of Record processing: Same business day if received by 3pm, else next business day Endorsement processing: Three business days after receipt Policy issuance: Three business days for automated lines of business (DIC, Specified Perils); Ten business days for manual lines of business (Property-Fire); Five business days after receipt of underlying policy information for Excess DIC, Specified Perils, or Property Ordering Inspections: Same business day as the bind confirmation

The Property Underwriting Assistant is instrumental in meeting the needs of our broker clients, by processing all policies and related work promptly and conscientiously. The underlying role of the Property Underwriting Assistant is to aid and support the underwriters in whatever way necessary.
Work collaboratively- no team member is an island. Support your teammates, collaborate and communicate with other underwriters, management, and the support staff.
The Property Underwriting Assistant will work closely with both Property Analysts and underwriters
Join the conversation - attend and participate in meetings. Bring suggestions, provide objective feedback, share market intel and broker comments.
The Property Underwriting Assistant will keep track of broker comments and questions, market trends that begin to emerge, etc. and share what they find out with the team

Rating New and Renewal earthquake and property accounts (E) Policy issuance and servicing, including endorsements, inspection ordering, BORs, etc.Participate in the enhancement of all policies, procedures and guidelines of the Department in a positive and cooperative manner (S)Maintain a neat and organized workstation (E)Maintain confidentiality of all company materials (E)Adhere to departmental and company policies, procedures and guidelines, including but not limited to work hours and proper attire (E)Adhere to all regulatory and statutory rules, procedures, and laws (E)Perform related duties as assigned (E)

Good knowledge of:
Computers and software programs and how they work Insurance principles and terminology Insurance company, broker, retail agents operations and relationships Standard insurance marketplace versus Excess & Surplus insurance marketplace DIC, Property and Inland Marine products (principles and terminology) CAT modeling concepts, systems and reports Insurance documents, such as applications, supplemental applications, inspections, valuations, modeling reports, premium finance docs, reinsurance worksheets, invoices, etc.Policy forms for DIC, Property and Inland Marine products, such as Dec pages, Coverage Parts, Endorsements (both manuscript and published formats)
