Perform a variety of passenger, vehicle and pedestrian surveys as a basis for a sound and efficient scheduling of transit equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL:


  • Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD, uses sound judgement at all times works effectively in a diverse work environment, works safely on the job, respects coworkers and assures the quality of services to all customers both internal and external.

  • Computes and summarizes findings from surveys.

  • Follows established methods and procedures in making a variety of transit and related traffic checks, including but not limited to stand checks, ride checks, and schedule adherence.

  • Compiles routine numerical records and summaries of transit operations including: tabulation of figures from traffic checks indicating running time summary for the minimum, maximum, average, and schedule time, summary to show number of passengers arriving, leaving, boarding and alighting.

  • Contacts the general public to obtain or furnish information regarding origin and destination points in relation to existing or proposed transit routes and schedules.

  • Distributes notices to the public covering changes on types of services or other related transit information at RTD facilities.

  • Observes and takes passenger checks and counts number of passengers arriving, leaving, boarding and alighting from a specific station, headway between vehicles, time of arrival and departure of transit equipment.

  • Takes running time checks and terminal checks indicating arrival, layover and departure time.

  • Rides vehicles to record running time between terminals, exact time at each stop, exact time at all points, number of passengers unable to board at any given stop, number of boardings and alightings, number of wheelchair passengers, etc.

  • Takes spot checks to investigate complaints from patrons.

OTHER:

  • Answers inquires from the public with regard to transit schedules and routes. (Those situations impacting service will be noted and brought to the attention of the supervisor). Compiles data on the seating capacity and maximum passenger capacity of types of buses and rapid transit operations; occasionally counts automobiles at specified locations to determine traffic conditions. Drives to various locations at various times to perform duties. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated ability to read maps, transit routes and schedules. Prefer knowledge of city and county of Denver and other counties within the District.

  • Demonstrated fast and accurate observation skills. Demonstrated ability to add and subtract and work accurately with numbers.

  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the general public.

  • Ability and willingness to work long flexible hours, involving standing and/or walking for extended shifts.

  • Must have ready access to vehicle and have or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Driver's License, and acceptable driving record, and maintain minimum insurance coverage in accordance with Colorado state law.

  • Prefer experience in public contact or related activities, preferably in an operating division of a transit system.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license continually for the past 2 years. No DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 years

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education or experience consistent with the required qualifications as determined by Employee Relations and/or the Hiring Manager.

SM-BLK-2-3 2ND SHIFT, DAYS AS ASSIGNED- MONITORS HAVE MONTHLY SHIFT VOTES.

Pay Range:

$22.20 - $23.78 Hourly
