Job Description:

Sr. PSR Surgery Scheduler and Insurance


Position Information: Responsible for scheduling patient surgeries.


Essential Duties: 




  • Coordinates the scheduling of all surgeries, taking into consideration such information as the desired date, priority of surgery, length of surgery, etc., to ensure the efficient use of surgery suites and staff.

  • Verifies insurance and obtains prior authorizations when needed for surgery.

  • Notifies all necessary parties when changes must take place.

  • Extensive customer relations' responsibility in coordinating schedules with physicians.

  • Checks for physician orders and attaches order to patient medical record to ensure that patients are receiving appropriate care.

  • Communicates professionally with physicians and physician office staff to ensure appropriate documentation is in place.

  • Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments in effort to maintain a teamwork approach

  • Assists in resolving patient concerns.

  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Values Statement

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


Required Education: High School Diploma or GED, AND: 



  • 18 months experience with a minimum of 6 months experience in a clinical environment and 12 months experience in a customer service role.


Preferred Experience: 36 months in a clinical enviroment. 


Working Conditions:




  • Physical: Sitting for prolonged periods. Communicate effectively and listen. Use of computer and telephone. Manual dexterity and engage in repetitive motion.


  • Environmental: Standard Office Environment.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Customer service.·       

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.·       

  • Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner.·       

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)·       

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.·        

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.·       

  • Ability to enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.
