Managing Associate General Counsel - Carelon Health Inc.
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.
The Managing Associate General Counsel is responsible for directing the legal functions of assigned areas and managing a team of attorneys and/or paralegals who provide legal support for Carelon Health, Inc. Carelon Health, Inc. deploys care delivery and enablement solutions to drive whole health on behalf of its internal and external customers. This position will focus on enablement functions within Carelon Health, including UM and DM/CM, and will be responsible for legal support of the product development and sales and growth areas. Seeking a proactive, experienced business counseling attorney who can both oversee a team of attorneys as well as work as a strategic partner and decision maker with more senior leaders.

Proactively and with the appropriate level of urgency develops and executes initiatives and projects in response to clients' overall objectives and needs.
Accomplishes results through assigned legal staff.
Develops assigned staff to ensure their individual effectiveness.
Provides guidance and leadership on more complex legal issues in which the analysis of situations and/or facts require an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Serves as a resource for other attorneys and paralegals as well as business clients instructing and advising on technical and tactical issues.
Sets objectives for assigned legal team that align with the clients and the company's business strategy.
Provides concise and timely briefings to senior level business and upper-level legal management.
Manages the staff's workload.
Applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the legal matter at hand.
Contributes to overall results of an SBU or CEE unit and/or department.
Uses professional legal concepts and principles to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively assess and mitigate risk on all legal initiatives and projects of assigned staff.
Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates the performance of direct reports.
Seeks out opportunities for process improvement
Takes ownership of issues and is comfortable taking calculated and appropriate risk
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a JD, current license to practice law and minimum of 9 years specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure including experience in managing a staff, department budget and outside counsel; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
Health law and in-house experience
Experience working at a health plan or at a services company that provides services to health plans.
