Title: Specialty Pharmacy Technician I
Location: 1922 Dry Creek Way, Suite110 & 134, San Antonio, Texas 78259.
Candidates must live within 50 miles of location.
Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm with occasional on call night/weekend shift as scheduled by manager.

The Specialty Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for assisting pharmacists in the performance of technical and clerical duties involved in the daily operations of the Pharmacy, as allowed by law and/or regulation.
How you will make an impact:
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Assists the pharmacist with dispensing items a physician orders pursuant to a valid prescription adhering to the appropriate guidelines and policies.
Check for expired / unusable products and disposes of them properly.
Assists the pharmacist with the dispensing of items ordered by a physician pursuant to a valid prescription.
Answers and initiates communications related to providing pharmaceutical care. Utilize low, medium, and high-risk compounding techniques.
Assists the patient delivery representative in orders, receiving, maintaining, and tracking all infusion-related equipment.
Stage correct drug and supplies for clean room and disinfect for the clean room once a pharmacist completes the in-process check.
Stages correct supplies according to delivery ticket and prioritizes deliveries based on by-time and shipping method.
Count and label flushes and label IV products that come out of the clean room.
Follows a process to minimize mis-fills and HIPAA violations.
Double-checks supplies and paperwork to be correct and packs deliveries once complete.
Follows packing process to minimize unscheduled deliveries, loss of pumps, and HIPAA violations.
Maximizes the efficiency and productivity of the pharmacy and delivery operations.
Strives to achieve cost effectiveness in all areas (including purchasing, inventory control, staffing delivery services).
Available to work "on call" as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Requires a minimum 1 year experience as pharmacy technician with training/experience in alternate site/home health pharmacy practice and the preparation of sterile products.
Requires a current, active, valid and unrestricted Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate and/or license.
Continuing education necessary to maintain current licensure in all states licensed.
Maintain a current pharmacy technician certificate where required by law and/or regulation.
Multi-state certification is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.
For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
Preferred Experience:
ACPE IV certification preferred, but not required.
