Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Must reside within 50 miles/1hour commute from a Elevance Health location.
The Director & Actuary I is responsible for managing, directing and providing leadership for actuarial projects for Commercial Valuation.
How you will make an impact:
Guides staff in the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
Assists Actuarial department head in developing the company's actuarial policies and procedures.
Directs and provides leadership in actuarial functions, which may include: the design, pricing, and implementation of assigned products; estimation of reserves and financial reporting, interpretation and projection; analysis of trends and cost of care initiatives; and actuarial modeling and analytics.
Maintains the product line to comply with various state and federal regulations.
Conducts and analyzes experience studies, validates pricing assumptions and monitors the consistency of company practices and procedures.
Performs short and long-term financial forecasting and analysis.
Responsible for decisions determining priority of work assignments, appropriateness of actuarial and statistical analysis, determining actuarial soundness of products, reserve position, underwriting guidelines, etc.
Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field and minimum of 7 years of relate experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
Requires ASA/MAAA.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
Prior Valuation and/or Management experience a plus.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $148,896 to $243,648.
