CarelonRx Sales Strategy Director




Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations listed on the requisition.


The CarelonRx Sales Strategy Director is responsible for working for a regional vice president (RVP) and other senior leaders to identify, develop and propose planning and strategy supporting the new sales and business development process for CarelonRX.



How you will make an impact:



  • Supports sales directors in all phases of the sales process such as pre-bid strategy planning, request for proposal (RFP) response and execution, finalist meeting preparation, customer relationship management (CRM) record maintenance, and post sales support.


  • Develops business plans and formulates strategies for new business opportunities and may occasionally support large complex renewals.


  • Monitors and analyzes product lines to help determine optimal strategy.


  • Analyzes major competitor strategies. Identifies and monitors changing patterns of competition and recommends response.


  • Works directly with key stakeholders and supports the sales process and sales execution for the largest and most sophisticated employer market prospects.


  • Partners with leadership to define our sales strategy for key prospects and business development activities and success criteria for the future.


  • Creates and presents high quality presentations to executive levels.


  • Oversees definition development and implementation of metrics to report and monitor progress against goals and ensures plan of record supports strategy milestone deliverables.


  • Monitors, measures and communicates delivery against business strategic plan and the quality of outcomes.


  • Researches relevant trends and activities in their area of expertise and works with business leadership to further define business strategy and sustain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.


  • Collaborates with senior team and staff to develop tactical plans and communication strategies.


  • Serves as a representative on enterprise and inter-regional initiatives.


  • Provides coaching and mentoring to other leaders in the organization on strategic thinking and on projects that deliver high return and high strategic value.


  • Manages vendor interaction including broker/consultant engagement to support the sales process as the sales subject matter expert in projects and initiatives.





Minimum Requirements:



Requires a BS/BA degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.



Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Experience working in the managed care/healthcare insurance industry most notably in pharmacy benefits; PBM experience strongly preferred.


  • Experience with large and/or sophisticated employer benefits, pharmacy benefit sales, and experience using a CRM software platform preferred.


  • Exceptional strategic thinking, decision-making, problem-solving skills, and adaptability highly preferred.


  • Proven ability in collaborating with cross-functional teams and coordinate efforts towards common goals strongly preferred.


  • Experience interacting confidently with senior management and executive level stakeholders, as a subject matter expert and comfortable with influencing decision-making preferred.


  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to negotiate expectations between multiple parties strongly preferred.


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, MS Teams, and Salesforce highly preferred.




For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $124,740 to $213,840


Locations: California; Colorado; District of Columbia (Washington, DC), Maryland, Nevada; New York; Washington State
