The Financial Services Team, within the Group Insurance Disability Organization, is seeking an Overpayment Recovery Specialist. The successful candidate will be expected to interact with claimants, employers, attorneys and collections agencies, articulate how an overpayment debt occurred and negotiate reimbursement plans.

This role requires the ability to partner closely with claim manager and provide expertise regarding taxes, offset and financial calculations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for written communication of overpayments.
• Recovers overpayment that have occurred on Paid Leave, STD, and LTD claims.
• Performs recalculations of benefits paid on Paid Leave, STD, and LTD claims.
• Processes incoming checks.
• Applies cyclical withholdings of benefits to apply toward overpayments.
• Manages the ACH process for the transfer of funds applied to an overpayment.
• Provides technical support for claims team, in the financial aspects of claim management.
• Demonstrates an intimate understanding of all aspects of LTD, STD, and Paid Leave claim management/adjudication.
• Assists in the development and coordination of training for claim teams.
• Works with the team to address challenges relating to contract interpretation, procedures, and complex claim assistance and/or direction.
• Responds to customer service issues within required timeframes to meet customer expectations.
• For US employees, this job is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and disability insurance experience.
• 3 years of Disability Claims (STD, Waiver and/or LTD) or Collections experience required.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and communication skills demonstrated in previous work experience.
• Specific experience with collaborative negotiations and influencing others.
• Proven skills in positive and effective interaction with challenging customers.
• Demonstrated analytical and math skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment.
• High level of flexibility to adapt to the needs

Additional Requirements:

This position will work virtually, therefore new hires must be able to provide the following & all new hires who work remotely will be held accountable to these standards:


  • Subscribe to internet service provider plan with at least 25 Mbps download speeds. You must be willing to troubleshoot any issues or outages with your home internet service, contacting your service provider as necessary.

  • Must have the capability to handle calls with a cell phone (would need to have unlimited data and minutes) or a landline. Your personal phone number will not be identified to customers.

  • Quiet area in your home with minimal distractions and noise free.

  • Reliability and Dependability throughout our extensive training program is required.

The salary range for this role is from $62,500.00 to $93,000.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
