Position Summary
The Automation Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting creation of manufacturing solutions. The key responsibility of this position is to support efforts that involve development of solutions for product assembly, implement enhancements to existing manufacturing setups while maintaining adherence to defined procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Complete activities and track and report progress
• Support Project timelines and milestones and bring them to completion on time and within budget
• Assist engineers with creating manufacturing solutions, improving manufacturing methods and maintaining assembly and test systems
• Read schematics, assembly drawings, and procedures to perform testing, build fixtures and troubleshoot equipment
• Create Machine BOMs, station descriptions & wiring schematics
• Work on special assignments as they arise
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
• Strong understanding of strength of materials, automation, fixturing and testing
• Mechanical aptitude
• High level of attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
Education and Experience
• High School diploma; Associate's degree from an accredited college is preferred
• Experience with machining equipment & using solid works
• Previous experience in machining, controls & electrical wiring is required
• Experience with the high volume fully automated production machines.
• Hands on experience with Machine design, machine fixture design, CAM driven machines, pneumatic actuators, servos, stepper motors, EFD dispensing valves, vision systems, sensors, sonic welding, pick-and-place mechanisms, pad printing, electrical test instruments, air-leak testers.
• PLC programming troubleshooting
Travel Requirements
• Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• Work may be performed in a clean room environment
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
• May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time
