Job Title: Category Manager– Medical, Hospital


Location: ADS Headquarters (Virginia Beach, VA)


The Medical Hospital Category Manager will be responsible for the sustainable growth of the Hospital Medical category. An effective Category Manager understands and can articulate their Category's position in the customer landscape and vendor community and convert that understanding to revenue. This position will report to the Director of the Medical Market and may be filled by a local or remotely located candidate.


NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT



  • Generate new opportunities with existing suppliers & existing customers

  • Find and capitalize on "white space" in Category assist in finding new customers

  • Provide leads to sales team and support those leads during initial phases of business development


STRATEGIC PLANNING



  • Create and execute sales initiatives that bring value and measurable revenue to ADS Sales and vendors

  • Develop & present annual plan for suppliers and Sales

  • Assess this plan quarterly and adjust as needed

  • Develop long term plan for Category growth


VENDOR MANAGEMENT



  • Negotiate terms with existing suppliers to maximize overall margin

  • Must be extremely well-versed and able to articulate the ADS Value Proposition

  • Identify new vendors in emerging markets and assess viability for partnerships


    • Travel to new vendor facilities to assess capability and products and to best understand where ADS can add value


  • Maintain deep relationships with vendor community - continually reinforce ADS value proposition

  • Understand competitive landscape for category, both customer facing and vendor facing

  • Identify unique value propositions based on vendors needs


CONTRACT MANAGEMENT



  • Fully understand existing contracts available within DLA Medical – DAPA / ECAT / FSS, etc.

  • Support capture efforts for new contracts


PRODUCT EXPERTISE



  • Increase vendor portfolio with emerging tech and sought after equipment

  • Stay abreast of new products in category while keeping existing product offerings fresh

  • Be resident expert on product/category trends

  • Maintain presence within technical community of category

  • Research user requirements to focus on solutions that will yield maximum results

  • Work with Training to educate Sales


TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS



  • Frequent travel (50-75%)


 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • 5 years' experience with US Government contracting and acquisition in Medical

  • 2 years' successful experience in business development and/or program management

  • 3+ years' experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word must be highly proficient

  • Strong understanding of Medical contracts DAPA & ECAT

  • Must be HUNGRY to create opportunities and find new business

  • Must possess strong and fearless negotiations skills while still managing relationships with finesse


ADS experience may be substituted for any of the above at the manager's discretion.


All employees accepting a position as Category Manager will be expected to make an 18-month commitment and may not transfer to another role without approval from the VP of Market Sales.
