Opportunity Overview
As a Short-Term Assignment Interventional Radiologic Technologist, youwill perform special diagnostic radiographic procedures on designated parts of the body as required by physician orders. This position assumes responsibility for care and safety of patients' underlying interventional procedures, and cardiac catheterization examinations. Orientation is provided to ensure comfortability of working in a familiar environment while simultaneously learning more about the culture of Eskenazi Health and our opportunities.This position proactively models Eskenazi Health values contributes to its mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.
Schedule Committment
The short term contract is a 13 week commitment, at the end of the contract there is the potential to renew or join our team in a fulltime or PRN capacity.The position is scheduled 8:00am-4:30pm; Mon-Fri. This position does have a call requirement. When on call, you must be within a 30-minute response window.
Call requirements are based on amount of staff in designated call pool. Call days and Weekends are divided evenly between staff. Contractor staff may be asked to pick up additional call based on PTO and permanent staff availability. Call ranges from 4:30 pm - 8 am Monday through Friday and 7 am - 7 am on Saturday and Sunday.
Am I Qualified
Graduation from an ARRT approved Radiologic Technology Program. Bachelor's degree in interventional radiology is preferred in addition to experience requirements.Minimum of two (2) years previous working experience in interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization.
ARRT registered which includes compliance with professional CEU requirements
Licensed with the State of Indiana as a Radiologic Technologist
Maintains and shows proof of current CPR Certification

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Performs special diagnostic radiographic procedures on designated parts of the body as required by physician orders
Selects proper exposure factors for radiographic equipment for each examination
Determines appropriate equipment for use, i.e. pressure injectors, pressure monitor, mapping system, other imaging equipment.
Utilizes protective shielding, immobilization and supportive devices when required
Assumes responsibility for care and safety of patients while they are undergoing interventional procedures in the labs.
Assists Radiologists/Cardiologists during special procedures and cardiac catheterizations
Provides emotional support to patients and keeps them informed regarding what they will experience during the procedure.
Participates in the instruction of AS and BS students rotating through department
Following HIPAA requirements, prepares digital images for providers outside of the Eskenazi Health system
Maintains supplies required for radiographic rooms, such as contrast media, pharmaceuticals, etc.
Keeps rooms adequately stocked, and equipment clean; adheres to infectious control policies in maintaining a semi-sterile environment
Prepares equipment to be sent to CSR for sterilizing procedures (i.e., wrapping, cleaning, labeling).
Prepares procedure trays for interventionists prior to all exams. Alters activities to reflect/ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal, adult) as described in the area/unit age-specific and/or job specific competencies
Takes call shifts to provide coverage during non-working hours
