The University of Pittsburgh Department of Surgery has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Associate. The Department of Surgery’s dedication to excellence in research drives our commitment to seek out and train the best of the next generation of biomedical scientists. We are interested in recruiting an MD and/or Ph.D. candidate with experience in general/trauma surgery research or other relevant disciplines.

The Postdoctoral Associate will work on research involving the design, execution, and written/oral presentation of a human spinal cord injury clinical study. Specific tasks associated with this position include the collection, processing, and quantification of molecular biomarkers from cerebrospinal fluid and serum of patients with acute traumatic spinal cord injuries. Necessary skills include technical expertise with high-performance liquid chromatography, clinical understanding and assessment of humans with spinal cord injury, and the capacity to interact and care for patients with neural disabilities.
