Description: This position is responsible for monitoring and operating equipment. The combined cycle operator supports the combined cycle operator crew leader when necessary and communicates with that position as needed. This classification is qualified to perform the duties of the combined cycle operator crew leader and may fill in for the combined cycle crew leader when required. The combined cycle operator frequently receives direction from and reports to the operations manager or his designee.
Responsibilities: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of, but not limited to, the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform the job. 1. Performs all work in a safe manner. Complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures. Performs all work that they are qualified and trained to do in a manner to protect themselves, their fellow employees and the public from injury. 2. Performs operating function, including opening and closing of valves, transferring chemicals, preventive maintenance, etc. Performs clean up and preservation tasks throughout the facility. May perform plant-related switching operations as directed. 3. Performs water sampling and chemistry on the raw water, pretreatment system boiler system, condensation system, cooling water system and waste water system. Records results and notifies the combined cycle operator crew leader of any out of the limit conditions. 4. Takes local readings on all equipment in the plan and records data. Makes adjustments as needed and communicates with the combined cycle operator crew leader when deficiencies are found. 5. Performs warehousing duties and snow removal when needed. Operates the plant forklift and other appropriate equipment. 6. Conducts regular inspection tours of the facility and writes work orders when defects or problems arenoted. Performs minor maintenance when appropriate and assists the maintenance department during outages. 7. Assists the lockout/tagout activities under the direction of the combined cycle operator crew leader and established clearance procedures. Performs confined space attendant or entrant duties as required. 8. Responsible for the completion of special tasks and projects assigned by the combined cycle operator crew leader, operations manager or unit manager. 9. Leads, trains and instructs other employees in their work.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.
