Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of FP&A, this role will be pivotal in managing project timelines, processes, and ensuring the alignment of financial projects with the strategic objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities/Duties - what you will be doing
Management/oversight of cross-functional programs, processes, and workflows within FP&A function that support our Finance goals and initiatives (e.g., Monthly Close, Forecasts, and Operating Plan)
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and corporate policies.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are met within scope, time, and budget.
Facilitate internal and cross functional meetings, capture notes, takeaways and follow up on deliverables.
Communicate project statuses, financial implications, and strategic recommendations effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Determines needs and defines, plans, and directs implementation plan;
Oversees department staff contributing to highly critical projects;
Exercises judgment to make decisions, or to raise issues to the appropriate level in a timely manner;
Manages project communications and interface with internal and external constituents to ensure that the program and project goals are met.
Participate in the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corporate goals.
Maintain Corporate and Financial Internal Calendars
Liaise with actuarial, market finance, FP&A, and controllers to gather necessary financial data and insights.
Management of all phases of presentation creation for leadership (BOD / CEO / President / CFO): requirements, design, dependencies, deliverables, packaging, and quality control
Streamline FP&A processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Improve communication and coordination within the dept and with our business partners.
Implement best practices in project management methodologies tailored to FP&A functions.
Oversee staff to develop processes and systems to ensure high quality, consistent project management to ensure programmatic excellence;
Monitor, control, report, and present status of all elements of program and budgets;
Coach and mentor department staff to reinforce existing synergies and forge new working relationships across the company.

Qualifications - what you need to perform the job
Required: (minimum) 5-7 years of health insurer finance experience, preferred 10+ years
Significant business process and project management experience
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate financial strategies and project outcomes clearly.
Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Ability to interact a with Senior VP and VP levels
A high degree of attention to detail - does not let important details slip through the cracks.
Must be able to manage and direct multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong background in managing projects from inception to completion, with a focus on financial projects.
Understanding of healthcare payer economics, articulate drivers of business changes (story telling)
Proficiency in financial and presentation software and project management tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Hyperion, Adaptive).
Ability to thrive in a matrix-management, hands-on environment that demands a consultative approach and solutions that span multiple environments in a business area.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate with and influence internal and external constituents at all levels with confidence.
Strong negotiating, influencing, and advocacy skills, ability to lead others both internally and externally to ensure the success of the program.
Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
Must be flexible and a proponent/champion of change, able to conceptualize and envision the impact of change, and propose new ways to do business.
Must be an accomplished multi-disciplinary team-leader and team-builder with hands-on style. Ability to lead teams whose members have diverse professional and educational backgrounds, and to effectively manage difficult group dynamics to effectively reach a positive outcome.
Ability to balance strong leadership on day-to-day program management and significant issues while also aligning with program director's broader needs and vision for the program.
Ability to present technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
Requires the ability to maintain effective and productive peer relationships. Must have the ability to motivate fellow employees by fostering team spirit, an attitude of cooperation, and a commitment to the organization. Requires well-developed interpersonal skills to act in the capacity of liaison to the user community.
