Overview

The Director of LMG Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) delivers system-level leadership, oversight, direction, and support for advanced practice providers (physician associates/assistants [PA], nurse practitioners [NP] and certified nurse midwifes [CNM] across LMG). The APP Director ensures regulatory compliance, promoting appropriate utilization of APPs, standardizing job descriptions and role expectations across all sites of care. Works with senior leadership to achieve Legacy’s mission, strategic goals, and APP workforce needs.

This role has 0.6 FTE of devoted time to administrative duties and the remainder of their FTE will be committed to clinical practice within their specialty area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Minimally requires a Masters’ or Doctorate degree in Nursing, or;Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree of Physician Assistant/Associate studies.
  • MBA, MHA or the equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum five years’ APP clinical practice experience.
  • Minimum 2 years healthcare leadership experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and influence in articulating ideas and plans both verbally and in writing, with a skill for presenting data to interdisciplinary teams of all sizes.
  • Demonstrates leadership and business development skills within a multisite health system environment.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current state licensure to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Associate/ Assistant.
  • Current National Certification by appropriate certification board.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Current life-saving certificate required for clinical role.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership and Administrative

  1. Provides overall leadership, oversight, direction, and support for APPs within LMG.
  2. Assures and promotes the delivery of safe, highly competent, top-quality care by APPs across all sites of care.
  3. Assures adherence to organizational, state, and national policies and standards of care.
  4. Revises and develops policies, procedures, and clinical competencies using national standards and current literature.
  5. Promotes the professional advancement and growth of APPs throughout the System through diverse training initiatives and enhanced onboarding protocols.
  6. Works with other Legacy leaders and Legacy APPs to develop advancement opportunities and leadership roles for APPs.
  7. Collaborates with Legacy leadership for the strategic growth and utilization of the APP workforce, prioritizing cost containment while maximizing patient access.
  8. Establishes synergistic partnerships with relevant contracted services.
  9. Collaborates with the People and Culture Department to assess and continually evaluate employment market conditions to ensure the organization remains competitively positioned within the market.
  10. Crafts and promotes strategies to boost APP engagement.
  11. Facilitates open and effective communication channels with APPs system wide, fostering a collaborative exchange of ideas and feedback.
  12. Collaborates with Legacy leadership in the development of new APP roles.
  13. Ensures APPs are operating at peak efficiency within their scope of practice.
  14. Acts as a resource for credentialing/privileging inquiries regarding APPs.
  15. Collaborates with Legacy business services to review and optimize APP billing policies and processes. Builds a culture of compliance with billing and documentation policies.
  16. Actively seeks opportunities to improve financial outcomes, engaging staff in the process.

  1. Demonstrates continued professional development by participating in pertinent continuing education and professional organizations.
  2. Participates in local, regional, and/or national professional networking opportunities.
