LAN is growing in the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Market and is looking for a Lead SUE Technician who can be a leader in this practice.
Responsibilities
Perform and supervise Quality Level B SUE to designate underground utilities such as fiber, electric, gas, water, etc. using utility locating equipment.
Perform and supervise Quality Level A SUE (test holes) to locate underground utilities to expose underground utilities and properly restore test hole locations to previous condition.
Properly set up traffic control devices when necessary to operate equipment and perform work. This will include coordinating with traffic control subconsultants and obtaining lane closure and/or street cut permits.
Place 811 tickets, request utility records and use other means and methods to obtain existing utility information.
Coordinate with utility owners for designating and locating services.
Schedule and supervise field crews.
Coordinate with surveyors.
Assist Engineers and Utility Coordinators with projects as it relates to drafting, scheduling and coordinating with utility companies.
Assist with proposal preparation as it relates to estimating labor and schedule.
Review CAD field data, drawings and deliverables for QA/QC.
Analyze and interpret engineering design plans, ROW maps, utility drawings and other technical documents.
Champion safety for the team which may include other Technicians, Engineers, Interns or other junior staff.
Train and mentor junior staff.
Take an active role in hiring, interviewing and recruiting new staff.
Maintain equipment and other field supplies.
Must be willing to travel to projects within Texas.
5-10 years experience in SUE industry including experience in performing QLB/QLA.
Experience with TxDOT projects.
CAD experience is a plus.
Eye for safety as it relates to field operations.
Desire to train and mentor junior staff.
