Description: Our client is currently seeking a Clinical Assistant in Frisco, Texas!



Job Title: Clinical Assistant



Job Type: Contract



Location: Frisco, Texas



Hours: Full-time (Between the hours of 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday)



Rate: Competitive & Dependent on Experience



Job Responsibilities:





  • Perform all duties in accordance with clinical, OSHA, and infection control standards.

  • Interpret and carry out provider orders.

  • Assist the physician and/or associate practitioner with procedures and treatments.

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs (including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature), and document in the patient's chart.

  • Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.

  • Give instructions to patients as directed by the physician or associate practitioner.

  • Document all patient-related communication and interventions in the patient's EMR.

  • Update the patient's Health Monitor at each visit.

  • Work the GAP reports and recall list for clinical quality measures.

  • Utilize CINA sheets.

  • Prepare and administer medications using aseptic technique.

  • Observe patient response to medications administered and report adverse events to the provider.

  • Where applicable, perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards, including control testing.

  • Maintain lab specimen logs.

  • Coordinate outpatient testing and referrals, as well as hospital pre-admission when necessary.

  • Scan all referral letters, x-ray reports, and lab results into the patient's EMR per clinic protocol.

  • Maintain all logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, equipment sterilization, etc.).

  • Prepare, restock, and disinfect examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area, and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals and as needed.

  • Take telephone and email messages, as well as medication refill requests, from patients and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy per physician protocol.

  • Collect data and process messages from patients and front office to physicians and associate providers.

  • Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times according to USMD policy and procedures and HIPAA requirements.

  • Maintain professional CEUs in accordance with state certification board.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by office supervisor, site manager, or practice administrator.




Required Qualifications:





  • High School Graduate or GED.

  • RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or willing to obtain within 180 days.

  • Active CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

  • This position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor's diagnosis of disease.

  • Covid-19 Vaccine current or obtained before 11-30-21.




Preferred Qualifications:





  • 3+ years of hands-on clinical experience working with a licensed physician or provider.

  • 1+ years of phlebotomy skill experience.

  • 1+ years of experience giving injections.

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Nextgen and Allscripts).
