Child Action, Inc. (CAI) is a private, non-profit corporation created in 1976 to promote the education and social welfare of children and families and to advocate on their behalf. Our programs include resource and referral services for families seeking childcare, child care subsidies for qualifying families, recruitment and professional development of the child care workforce, and family education and support.
We are seeking individuals who are highly organized, have the ability to multi-task, provide excellent customer service, have good problem-solving skills and have the ability to understand the problems and issues facing families from a variety of ethnic and economic communities.

Position Purpose & Scope:
Under the general supervision of the Government Affairs Director, the Legislative Analyst will be expected to prepare legislative proposals and analyses; conduct analysis of confidential and statistical data and information; serve as an Agency contact on legislative matters and perform a variety of legislative tasks that include the review of legislation, monitoring legislative hearings & work groups and other related issues. The Legislative Analyst is also responsible for making recommendations for appropriate legislative policy and program changes to address legislative issues, and serve as an agency liaison to legislators, local government, and their staff.
Typical Duties:
Conduct thorough research on legislative issues, including bills, regulations, and policy proposalsAnalyze data, statistics, and relevant information to assess potential impacts and implicationsEvaluate the effectiveness and implications of proposed legislation and policiesIdentify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with legislative initiativesPrepare clear, concise, and well-researched reports, memos, briefs, and other documents summarizing key findings and recommendations for policymakers, stakeholders, and internal teamsCollaborate with policymakers, government officials, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to gather input, share analysis, and build consensus on legislative issuesMonitor legislative developments, hearings, at local, state, and federal levelsKeep abreast of emerging trends, policy shifts relevant to the organization's mission and objectivesCommunicate complex legislative concepts and analyses effectively to diverse audiences, including policymakers, staff, stakeholders, and the general public, through written reports, presentations, and verbal discussionsCollaborate closely with colleagues from other departments, to support integrated approaches to addressing legislative challenges and opportunitiesSupport policy working groups led by the AgencyPerform any other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities:
