General Description
The Fabrication Associate is responsible for expertly operating high performing CNC laser, press brake and oxide removal equipment to safely produce beautiful metal parts to customer print specifications. These parts are to meet or exceed established quality and productivity standards.
Rates from 18.10 up to 22.84 per hour for experienced manufacturing Equipment Operators, Material Handlers
Organizational Relationships and Authority
The associate reports directly to the Supervisor.
There are no direct reports to this position. However, machine performance is the responsibility of the operator and any conditions that lower the expected output of the machine must be communicated to the Profiling Machinery Technician.
Key Responsibilities and Purpose
The primary responsibility of the associate is to produce metal fabricated parts to customer print specifications using a standard process.
Additional tasks include:
Running CNC equipment according to the production scheduleLoading materials with fork trucks, cranes, carts and non-standard drop material by hand as requiredEntering sourced material into the ERP systemUnloading tables by repetitively lifting and placing metal blanks or finished parts into containers (bins, boxes, gongs)Emptying dust collection bins according to preventive maintenance schedulesSafely removing skeletons and emptying scrap bins as neededSupporting achievement of company standards in safety, productivity, and on-time productionMaintaining a satisfactory attendance record, as outlined in the employee handbookAssisting other operators by working as a team to unload and inspect completed partsUsing inspection devices (calipers, pin gauges, check fixtures) to inspect parts, according to print and product inspection plan (PIP)Selecting and using fixtures, as identified in the CNC programGathering required documents (process photos, process inspection plans, job traveler, print, and work in process parts) to successfully run the jobReading the print fully in order to understand tolerances, geometry, material thickness, and special instructionsReading traveler for special instructionsLabeling work in process parts, scrap and finished parts according to ISO policyWearing proper protective equipment, as directed by equipment or processUnderstanding safety requirements in work areas, and complying with requirementsUsing material data sheets (MSDS) effectivelyParticipating in continuous improvement projects, both independently and as a team member, when requested or as the opportunity to volunteer presents itselfCompleting daily, weekly, monthly, and annual department maintenance as assignedOffering process improvement ideasAccurately entering job information, quantities and inspection results into the ERP systemsCorrectly clocking into and out of attendance systems

This position also requires the employee to seek additional skills trade certification, as reasonably requested by supervisors or managers

Education
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
Experience
No experience in manufacturing is required. Prior job experience is preferred
