What you will do:
The Plant Area Manager position is responsible for the organization and implementation of plans, procedures, and policies necessary to maximize utilization of resources in line with area and plant goals. Incorporate core values of safety, quality, and employee relations. Manages a substantial portion of the daily production function within a plant. Incorporates best-in-class practices to increase productivity and drive improvement in all business metrics. Focuses on the development and management of production personnel, particularly next-generation leadership
How you will do it:
Supervises Manufacturing Supervisors in production, distribution, volume, cost, quality, and achieving production plans.
Ensures good employee relations through Manufacturing Supervisors, including conducting meetings and approving requisitions, promotions, merit increases, transfers, and discipline.
Maximizes efficiency and productivity of Manufacturing Supervisors and production employees, ensuring efficient use of equipment and facilities.
Establishes goals and objectives for departments with Manufacturing Supervisors, which are reviewed by the Plant Manager, and administers the goal-setting/performance appraisal program.
Handles the selection, hiring, and development of Manufacturing Supervisors, recommending merit increases, promotions, and transfers.
Coordinates activities with other production areas, plant staff managers, and division and develops weekly schedules with Production Control to meet customer requirements.
Ensures compliance with company and plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste management, and good housekeeping practices.
Continuously reviews performance within the area of responsibility, participates in base plan presentations, and takes action to achieve goals.
What we look for:
Required
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment
Minimum 3 years in a leadership position.
Preferred
Previous experience managing in a union environment
Previous Lead Acid Battery experience
Understanding CI & Lean Methodology.
