The Accounting Manager ($95,600 to $120,000), with a focus on Quality Control, is responsible for managing the hotel's daily accounting operations, ensuring all financial transactions are accurate, compliant, and adhere to GAAP standards. This position emphasizes the development and implementation of quality control procedures, internal controls, and continuous improvements to support accurate and transparent financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, an eye for detail, and a proactive approach to discrepancy resolution.
Essential Responsibilities
Daily Operations Management
Oversee daily hotel accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
Supervise and support the accounting team in daily reconciliations of hotel expenditures and transactions.
Prepare and file occupancy tax returns.
Develop and enforce quality control procedures to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
Conduct periodic audits of hotel reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Collaborate cross-departmentally to resolve issues impacting financial records' accuracy.
Ensure financial records and reports are accurate, complete, and in accordance with GAAP.
Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting
Analyze financial statements, reports, and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
Monitor financial performance against budget, providing variance analyses and explanations.
Policy Development
Assist the Controller in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve departmental efficiency.
Identify potential risks in hotel reconciliation processes and develop mitigation strategies.
Support the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Monitor and enforce adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and accuracy.
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience: 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with quality control emphasis.
Certifications: In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software, particularly NetSuite.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and large data set analysis.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; effective leadership and team management skills.
