JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answers telephone inquiries and concerns from:
Accurately records and charts key information and planned response. Responds within limits of licensure, training, and supervising protocols. Works with providers to define credible expectations for response times.
Handles telephone calls including fielding patient medical questions, test results, medication Refills, and call-backs to patients as directed by physician or requested by patient within the scope of practice/license. Faxes/calls/electronically transmits prescription refills as requested.
Continually communicates through documentation and conversation with providers to create a patient care plan and then carries out orders to implement care plan (i.e., appointment, medication, care directions).
Calls patients that have been seen in ER and reviews current situation and may advise of standard protocols of care or education. Documents call and informs provider of interaction.
Tracks several procedures and screenings relating to the care of OB & GYN patients (Drug Screen, RhoGAM, OB Intake and 28-week lab results, Urodynamics, mammograms, and imaging results).
Conducts nurse visits for BP checks, Gestational Diabetes, breastfeeding education, injections, NST’s, urine dips and OB intakes.
Follows up with patients on No-Show OB appointments, post-partum appointments, and other outstanding appointments.
Enhances operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment without jeopardizing important innovation or quality of care.
Ensures practice compliance with clinical standards of regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies for OB and GYN care.
Works with insurance agencies to obtain approval of procedures, medication, and surgeries.
Maintains strictest confidentiality of patient and business information.
Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and hospital policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Current Indiana LPN licensure required. Current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required. At least one year of previous nursing experience required, preferably in an outpatient setting.
