CobbFendley is seeking a Transportation Senior Project Manager
in our Austin, Texas office.





QUALIFICATIONS



The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include the following.


  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in roadway design PS&E.

  • Engineer with a BSCE and Texas Professional Engineering License.

  • TxDOT roadway design project engineering and management experience. Drainage design is a plus.

  • Strong written/verbal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage a group, manage schedules, and monitor project budgets to achieve department performance goals.

  • Strong business development, team building and operational skills.

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Provide Senior Project Management services for sustained growth of the Central Texas Transportation service-line and within CobbFendley’s multiple office locations, such as Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos, McAllen and surrounding areas. Help maintain and enhance teaming relationships and opportunities with other firms, in coordination with the Corporate Business Development Lead (CBDL) and Regional Manager.

  • Provide Senior Project Management services (such as oversight and leadership) for major roadway schematic and PS&E type projects. This includes active participation in projects and providing oversight to production coordination (planning, organizing, directing, and controlling schedules and deadlines), financial management (budgets, invoicing, and collections), marketing, and personnel.

  • Market to existing and potential clients to identify and obtain Transportation contracts such TxDOT and other major pursuits. Work with Corporate Business Development Lead (CBDL) to provide pertinent technical responses to TxDOT, and various local County and City RFQ's. This includes assisting marketing staff with marketing packages, proposal preparation, proposal review, presentations, and marketing meetings.

  • Contribute to the successful development, planning, and execution of the business strategy in collaboration with the Region Manager and other Leaders within CobbFendley.

  • Learn CobbFendley’s QA/QC procedures to ensure the quality of services and deliverables including designs, engineering reports, layouts, schematics, plans & specifications, and cost estimates. Oversee project adherence to QA/QC guidelines. Engage the QA/QC committee to perform a minimum of one project audit annually for the Central Texas Transportation service-line.

  • Meet with clients regularly to review project performance and sustain a feedback loop that results in continuous improvement of our services to clients.

  • Manage budgets and invoicing to achieve healthy financial project profitability. Develop a complete understanding of the CobbFendley accounting system for project management.

  • Serve in a leadership capacity for the Central Texas Transportation Group.

  • Identify and recruit qualified staff as needed to perform project work in partnership with other service line leads and HR, including offer letter preparation and onboarding new staff.

  • Coordinate training and mentoring initiatives to promote staff development in partnership with other service-line leads and the Corporate Trainer.

  • Engage staff through various Company initiatives such as FOYS, monthly events, etc. to retain staff. Be mindful of turnover trends and how to address them.

  • Perform formal employee evaluations annually for employees that perform survey services and collaborate with Discipline Leads on evaluations for those in other service lines. Recommend increases for individuals and discretionary performance bonuses for high performers in their group.

  • Work with HR to address performance concerns, grievances, involuntary separations, medical leaves and accommodations. Listen to individuals’ feedback and resolve issues or conflicts within the group.

  • Prevent discrimination, harassment, workplace violence, in all terms of employment and notify HR.

  • Travel to CobbFendley offices, client office, and project locations will be required as needed.

  • Support all aspects of company policies, protocols and procedures that include human resources, information technology, accounting, marketing, and health and safety.

  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

  • Be self-motivated to work in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.

PHYSICAL + COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS




  • Seated and Standing Position.Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation.


  • Mobility.Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, and outdoor environments with potential for uneven surfaces.


  • Neck Movement.Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens.


  • Repetitive Motion.Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard.


  • Arm Movement.Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally.


  • Object Handling.Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder.


  • Cognitive Requirements.Selective attention, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech recognition, speech clarity, written comprehension, written expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, number facility, information ordering, category flexibility, flexibility of closure, fluency of ideas, and originality.




ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS




  • Work Environment.Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and outdoor environments for observations will be required.


  • Office Conditions.Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices.


  • Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures), noise, and exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy).


  • Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with handling electric power tools, cutting tools, plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter, and other equipment.


  • Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time.


  • Noise and Allergens. Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar.


  • Wildlife Hazards. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants.






EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST/local time zone.


This position may include the need for overtime hours.
