Repairs, maintains, and modifies building electrical systems; installs new electrical services and/or equipment in conformance with local, state, and federal electrical and fire safety codes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Installs, repairs, tests, and maintains electrical circuits and equipment.
Repairs electrical circuits and equipment.
Replaces defective mechanical parts, including gears, bushings, commutators, and transformers.
Studies blueprints and diagrams to determine layout, location, and specifications of items to be installed.
Assembles, installs, and connects components of switchboards and distribution panels; connects them to units controlled.
Mounts, maintains, and repairs motors, transformers, lighting fixtures, fire systems, and power plant systems; completes circuits according to specifications.
Installs electrical layouts, circuits, equipment, and appliances; tests for environmental safety requirements.
Estimates time and materials required for projects; submits requisitions for material and equipment.
Maintains necessary parts in inventory.
Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled.
Performs load tests of emergency generators.
Coordinates clock setting at change of seasons.
Isolates defects in electrical systems using test instruments.
Checks lighting in and around hospital buildings, regularly.
Replaces bulbs and fuses; repairs electrical cords.
Repairs electrical and mechanical patient beds and call lights.
Checks motor operation in various areas of the hospital complex.
Turns off systems for conservation.
Assists in other areas of the department, including the boiler room.
Picks up and delivers various supplies, parts, and building materials.
Orders needed materials; obtains parts and supplies in emergencies.
Cleans work and shop areas.
Shovels snow; spreads sand and salt.
Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Red, Code Pink, Code D and Code U.
Performs other plant operations duties, for which he/she is qualified, as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum of three years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a large facility.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, etc.
Current drivers license to travel to various hospital properties.
Graduate of an approved trade school or apprentice training program preferred.
Preference given to Journeyman or Master Licensed candidates
