Job Description:

Responsible for the business management activities and operations under the direction of the chairman. This position is located in the Department of Neurosurgery.


Duties:



  • Manages the department's general accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, financial planning and reporting, and approval of expenditures.

  • May assist or directly coordinates development of various contracts for receiving and providing services to include but not limited to assisting with the preparation and negotiation of departmental contracts; assisting the faculty in preparing budgets for research grants, contracts, and requests; and alerting department head and faculty to income alternatives and opportunities.

  • Assists in managing the activities and performance of the department's non-faculty staff. Ensures the department's human resources is in accordance with the University policies and guidelines.

  • Assists the administrator with the department's IT operations and services. Coordinates IT-related activities with central IT services.

  • Manages billing, collections, and tracking accounts payable/receivable functions for the department.

  • Assists in the development of outcomes based quality assurance Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) programs.

  • May be involved in development activities of the department and/or college such as marketing, fund raising events, etc.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health Administration, Accounting, Finance, or closely related field, AND:



  • 36 months experience in business administration activities such as accounting, budgeting, finance, grants and contracts, billing, IT operations, and human resources. Of the 36 months, 24 months experience in a lead, supervisory, or managerial role.


Equivalency Substitution: Will accept a Bachelor's Degree in the related field and 24 months experience in lieu of the Master's Degree for a total of 60 months experience.


Skills:



  • Proficient with Math and Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook).

  • Advanced Excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets.

  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Strong initiative to solve problems.

  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.

  • Ability to effectively evaluate projects, programs, and produce comprehensive reports.

  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.

  • Must have advanced proficient writing skills for composing audits, reports and advisories.
