Part-time hourly instructor to provide training for our crochet courses. Successful candidates will have the desire to engage a diverse student population.
Directly reports to Manager, Workforce and Community Partnerships - Workforce Professions
1. Create a plan for instructional activities that will aid students in developing basic crochet skills.2. Instruct students on proper crochet techniques and accurate pattern reading.3. Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms.4. Maintain a daily lesson plan that includes instructional activities on foundational stitches and techniques, as well as pattern reading.5. Organize concepts to be taught logically and understandably covering all objectives outlined in the course syllabus.6. Monitor student attendance, retention, and documents (as required).7. Plan and update the curriculum for instructional activities including lectures and class discussions.8. Effectively communicate with students to help them achieve their educational goals.9. Advise students as it relates to school policies and satisfactory performance and maintain communication with the program coordinator regarding such activity.10. Grade assignments, return graded assignments to students, and assign final satisfactory/unsatisfactory grades for all students in a timely manner.11. Process course midterm and final grades according to policy.12. Submit timely, written notice of textbook, supply, instructional and equipment needs to the program coordinator (as required).13. Communicate with the program coordinator and/or manager on challenges, noteworthy issues, or concerns related to students.14. Maintain on-time attendance and schedule adherence.15. Maintain a positive attitude and support a commitment to departmental excellence.16. Maintain instructional service levels and productivity with efficiency, accuracy, and quality.17. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the department, consistent with the role of this position.
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.2. Proven experience with crafting techniques including crochet, weaving, and knitting.3. Ability to create, read, and follow complex patterns.4. Instructional/training experience.5. Excellent attention to detail and quality.6. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
1. Associate degree (or equivalent) in textile design or a related field.2. One year of teaching and/or training experience in an appropriate discipline.3. Experience working with culturally and intellectually diverse groups.4. Ability to create diverse teaching methods.
