The county Extension director (CED) provides administrative leadership for all aspects of the county Extension program operations including: personnel management, staff development, affirmative action, civil rights, fiscal management, budget development, inclusion and diversity, facilities and equipment, technology, marketing, and public relations. The CED is administratively accountable to the district Extension director for all assigned administrative and supervisory matters in the county and is responsible for compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to the operation of the total Extension program in the county. The CED serves at the discretion of the district Extension director. An applicable stipend for additional pay tied to the administrative duties will be paid in addition to the base salary agreed upon at hire for the selected candidate. The term of the administrative duties assignment is indefinite unless withdrawn by the district Extension director. The CED facilitates efforts of his/her staff regarding county program planning, implementation and evaluation. This is done in addition to the Extension educator duties which provides leadership and conducts agricultural and/or 4-H development work and programs. Participates as a cohesive OSU Extension team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate the total county program. Extension educators comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action. It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.This position participates as a cohesive team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan implement, and evaluate the total Cooperative Extension county program. It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.Base annual salary for entry level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $42,000; a master's degree is $46,000. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience. Extension educators hired with only a bachelor's degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master's degree. Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding.

Education & Experience Position Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's in Agric. or closely related. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience.


Valid Drivers License Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.


Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OCES by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally. *Demonstrated ability to adapt well to changing priorities, situations and day-to-day demands. *Demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively manage time and resources.Must possess strong writing, communication and organizational skills.Commitment to continue personal professional development.Evidence of ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with clientele, advisory groups, volunteer leaders and other professionals, etc.Demonstrated competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.Demonstrated leadership ability in designing, promoting, presenting and evaluating educational programs and the desire to program to reach diverse audiences.


Preferred: Master's in Agriculture. 


Previous experience in Cooperative Extension or closely related work is desirable.
