JOB SUMMARY:The Library/Information Commons Director leads and manages the Jackson College Library, making sure it provides valuable resources and services for students, faculty, and staff. This includes supervising the library's staff, developing and administering the budget, and overseeing the library's resources. The Library/Information Commons Director works closely with other departments, especially academic divisions, to support teaching, learning, and student success. The position reports to the College's Chief Academic Officer.Essential FunctionsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Provide leadership for the library to meet the needs of all students, college employees, guests, including those at different campuses, correctional facilities, and online.· Manage all library operations, such as the budget, library spaces, and supervision of library staff and adjunct librarians.· Partner with faculty to include library resources and information literacy into courses.· Ensure the library offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for all users, with special attention to diverse and underserved groups.· Supervise, mentor, and provide professional development for library staff.· Work with the Information Technology (IT) Department, as needed, to manage the library's digital resources, such as e-books, databases, and technology lending services.· Support distance learners and students in correctional education programs by providing them with equal access to library services.· Collaborate with the Jackson District Library and external partners to develop shared programs and services, as well as book exchanges.· Oversee the purchase of books and digital resources, making sure they align with the library's budget and the needs of students and faculty.· Collect and analyze library usage data to make improvements and ensure continuous growth.· Stay current with trends in academic libraries, such as digital tools, open educational resources (OER), and student-centered services.· Ensure that the library's holdings represent various identities of students, staff, and guests.Jackson College only accepts on-line applications though this system. A copy of Jackson College's Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report is available on the JC Campus Safety & Security website.
