Job Summary:

The Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a full-time, tenured associate professor to begin in August 2025. The successful applicant will conduct research and teach in the area of American Politics. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach and expand our current offerings in public opinion, elections, and/or public policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be expected to develop and teach substantive courses in their area of expertise, including introductory courses, upper-division undergraduate courses, and Master's level courses. Candidates should demonstrate a record of excellence in social science research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and service appropriate for a tenured professor. The faculty member will assist the Department in efforts to recruit, advise, and engage students and develop and refine the Department's curriculum.


Required Qualifications:



  • A completed Ph.D.

  • A Ph.D. in Political Science.

  • Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Political Science.

  • Experience teaching courses in American Politics and/or public policy.

  • Interest in teaching and student services at a sustained level sufficient to meet tenure standards.

  • Sufficient experience with service appropriate to their rank and number of years as a professor.

  • Several peer-reviewed publications.
