The College of Health Sciences at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) is pleased to invite qualified applications for a Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (12-month appointment) in the proposed Master in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Program (hire date negotiable). This is the principal faculty member of the Physician Assistant Program responsible for directing and coordinating the Clinical year. The Clinical Coordinator position coordinates clinical placements for students in the Physician Assistant Program.
Primary responsibilities include coordination, management, and supervision of SHSU clinical sites. The selected candidate will be responsible for administrative duties of clinical rotation scheduling and assisting the clinical team with clinical phase program evaluation. The Clinical Coordinator must also participate in activities that promote the stature of the department and the campus. Duties will include maintaining data and writing reports for accreditation. The faculty will be responsible for academic mentoring and advising to learners. The Clinical Coordinator generates and delivers classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction within the essential medical and clinical science topics based on the individual's qualifications. Collaboration with the Director of the PA Program, Medical Director, and other principal faculty to manage the curriculum will be necessary to ensure high quality instruction.
The selected candidate will also participate in the program's admissions process. Maintain awareness of the PA profession. Participate in service to the program, university, and healthcare profession. The proposed PA Program at SHSU seeks to recruit and retain a faculty with various skills, expertise, knowledge, and backgrounds. Qualified applicants with experience working in different and varied settings and/or who demonstrate a commitment to serving student populations with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
The proposed Physician Assistant Program is currently under development and is currently targeted for a Fall 2026 start date in the new Health Professions Building (HPB) in Conroe, TX. The HPB is an innovative facility that is scheduled for completion in January 2026, which will house graduate programs in Athletic Training, Dietetics, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant.
Must possess a Master's or Doctorate in Physician Assistant Studies or an equivalent discipline and be qualified to teach at the Master's level. Candidates must be NCCPA-certified and have current Texas PA licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of Texas.
A minimum of one year of experience as a clinician.

Higher Education Experience:
A minimum of one year of higher education experience in a PA Program ispreferred.
Accreditation:
Experience with the accreditation process, compliance and adherence to the ARC-PA standards is preferred.
Programmatic:
Experience with development, review, and revision of mission statements, program goals, and competencies is preferred.
Program Self-Assessment and Evaluation:
Experience with programmatic data collection and critical analysis, as well as applying analytical results to create action plans and identify strengths and weaknesses in the curriculum is preferred.
