The Product Engineer - HTS will provide technical support and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, and completion of engineering projects within the Heat Transfer Systems group.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Design and develop heat exchangers, heat transfer systems, test equipment and test procedures.
Perform CFD and FEA analyses to develop, improve, and ensure the validity of the designs.
Conduct and support lab tests that include heat exchanger tests and system thermal tests.
Identify and implement product improvements and cost-out opportunities.
Provide technical support for cross-functional teams.
Create test plans and work with vendors to evaluate and qualify alternative suppliers, to support targeted cost reduction /quality improvement projects.
Create 3D models of parts/assemblies and supporting drawings.
Participate with Product Development (NPD) project teams as needed on design transition
Participate in product testing, data acquisition and analysis.
Travel periodically to BAC manufacturing facilities or jobsites to investigate and resolve design issues.
Conduct research and create design proposals for projects.
Prepare and present written documentation, while regularly providing updates about the product development.
Design, create and modify prototypes and test fixtures using a variety of shop tools and techniques.
NATURE & SCOPE
The Product Engineer reports directly to the Global Engineering Manager - Heat Transfer Systems
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in engineering with emphasis on fluid mechanics and heat transfer
3D CAD, CFD and FEA design experience
2-3 years of experience inclusive of mechanical equipment design
Proficiency in 3D modeling software
Basic knowledge of HVAC/Refrigeration systems
Sheet metal design knowledge
DFMA design (design for manufacturing & assembly)
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Vault, Inventor experience preferred
Siemens NX experience preferred
Advanced surfacing CAD experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
Travel, both domestic and international, can be up to 10% of the time
Occasional evening/weekend hours required, often can be done remotely with the use of a laptop computer.
Primarily sedentary activity in the office will be experienced; however periodic travel to BAC manufacturing facilities with assembly (medium work) is required.
Must have close visual acuity to perform 3D computer modeling although accommodations will be made as required under ADA.
BAC Hiring Compensation Range $59,500 - $102,000.
