Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Shipping Coordinator is responsible for preparing all documentation as it pertains to shipments and assigning and arranging carriers for shipments. This role also involves taking appropriate action to ensure that assigned shipping dates are met in the most cost-effective manner, and within shipping policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Warehouse Supervisor, determine methods of shipments, and coordinate and schedule truck pick-ups and deliveries, examine outgoing shipments, and continue to track shipments to ensure that specifications are met
Develop and maintain a comprehensive shipping database, and verify and accurately record all shipping-related documentation
Compare identifying information and counts, weighs or measures outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records
Record shipping shortages and damages, and liaise with Warehouse Supervisor to resolve these issues
Prepares for the receipt and shipment of small parcels, including coordination of product and display for trade show events.
Provide support to Sales/Accounting teams by communicating needed information to resolve customer deductions as well as conflicts or discrepancies with customer orders and inventory available.
Make recommendations on shipping procedures, policies and processes
Prepare weekly composite shipping reports from documentation completed by shipping staff, and provide reports for review to Warehouse Supervisor
Helps to promote a positive safety culture by ensuring all safety policies and procedures are being followed.
Leads and maintains 5S in work area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Understanding and familiarity with shipping documentation flow, including export/import
Knowledge of inventory management and computerized shipping systems
Proven interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and time management skills
Strong computer skills, specifically in MS Office, and integrated business systems
Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent attention to details
Able to grow and adapt to changing requirements, and learn new processes and/or procedures
Education and Experience
A minimum of 1 year of direct experience is preferred, specifically within a manufacturing environment
High school diploma required
Working Conditions
Work conditions are consistent with a warehouse office environment within a manufacturing plant
Physical Requirements
The Shipping Coordinator role requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking in order to gather data from various sources throughout the office. This role may also require lifting up to 25 lbs on occasion.
