Job Description:
Brown Engineering is a unique place, which emphasizes the power of interdisciplinary thought and recognizes that engineering is intertwined with every aspects of our lives. Under the new leadership of Dean Tejal Desai, we are seeking a Dean's Coordinator for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Your Role and Responsibilities
The Dean's Coordinator for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion provides high-level coordination of the Dean's activities for the School of Engineering. The incumbent serves as the central liaison between the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and faculty, students, staff, and other internal and external constituents. The Dean's Coordinator proactively manages numerous administrative functions including managing the Associate Dean's special projects, events, meetings, agendas, committee arrangements, and other initiatives. The incumbent will plan, staff, and support events sponsored by the Dean's office in support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with advanced interpersonal skills for interacting with a wide range of stakeholders.
This is a part-time position at 25.5 hours per week and is benefits eligible.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and 1 to 2 years' experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience. Prior executive-level project management or administrative experience preferred.
Job Competencies
Project Management
Advanced ability to simultaneously manage multiple high-impact projects preferred.
Ability to work under pressure and use tact, discretion, and judgment while prioritizing task completion.
Comfort taking initiative to implement necessary project and program tasks.
Corporate or industry experience preferred.
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement principles a plus.
Organization
Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
Proven track record of taking Initiative and using sound judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize workload in a multi-task environment while maintaining careful attention to detail.
Experience with processing invoices, purchasing, travel expense reports, expense tracking, and other financial transactions a plus. .
Communication
Effective interpersonal communicator with ability to engage with diverse groups, including impactful donors and C-suite executives.
Ability to elicit and communicate information in a clear, informative, and concise manner.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituents and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with interdisciplinary individuals and organizations.
Demonstrated strong editing and proofreading skills.
Analysis & Research
Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information in a professional, discreet, and diplomatic manner.
Experience with data management and Excel.
Team Player
Ability to work independently and interdependently with diverse teams.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the University's goals of cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment.
Technology
Experience with computerized systems (i.e. Google Suite, Microsoft Office software, etc.) and continued interest in maintaining skills.
Proficiency with Zoom and other virtual video conference platforms.
Conduct ad hoc research via multiple online platforms.
Experience with project management software preferred.
