Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist 1
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology, Epilepsy Division has an exciting opening for a Full Time Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.
Core Job Summary
The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist specializes in studying and recording the electrical activity of the brain and nervous system to assists physicians in the diagnostic and prevention of disease. More specifically, the incumbent performs EEGs to both adults and pediatric patients using appropriate equipment and practices.
Core Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic tests when requested by physicians.
Reviews patient records and interviews patients to obtain additional information.
Prepares patients for procedure by attaching monitoring devices and explaining test procedures.
Sets up and calibrates necessary equipment.
Department Specific Functions
Calibrate computers and other measuring devices
Performs standard, complex, electroencephalographic studies, Long-term epilepsy monitoring and evoked potential procedures in an accurate and efficient manner
Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in the delivery of Neurodiagnostic services
Supports the education of the Neurodiagnostic field for students, nursing and other departments
Demonstrates the ability to perform complex, intra-operative electroencephalographic studies, Long-term epilepsy monitoring and evoked potential procedures
Transport medium to heavy weight equipment on a daily basis
Will move patients of varying size and condition in bed or to wheelchair or stretcher on a daily basis
Displays excellent service behaviors to all customers
Treats patients in all age ranges from neonate, pediatric, adult, to geriatric
Acts as clinical instructor to all students and staff with less experience
Displays flexibility to accept new or different assignments
Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition
Practices strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality
Primarily responsible for performing polysomnography recordings on all age groups
Prep and attach electrodes and other measuring devices Perform neurodiagnostic studies on inpatients and outpatients for interpretation by a neurologist
Perform record-keeping and other related paperwork including billing, filing, maintenance of logbooks and physical storage of records
Obtains patient history from medical record, documents information in digital EEG system

Core Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
