JOB TITLE/LOCATION:


Senior Tax Accountant-RBC Corporate Headquarters, Oxford, Connecticut


DESCRIPTION:


Working with the Tax Director and the external CPA firm, the Tax Accountant will be responsible for completing domestic income & franchise, sales/use and property tax returns for a multinational, multistate group of companies. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing the quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP income tax provisions and supplying calculations to support SEC disclosures for taxes. The role will assist with tax controversy including audits and responding to tax notices as well as partnering with the Tax Director in developing and executing tax planning initiatives. The senior tax accountant will also serve as an in-house tax consultant performing research as needed to respond to tax related inquiries from the business units, legal, human resources, and corporate accounting.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and review federal, state and local tax returns, special tax returns including Form 1042s and Form 114 (FBAR)
  • Prepare various indirect tax return filings
  • Prepare the project taxable income amounts for estimated tax and extension purposes
  • Assist with preparation of income tax provision computation
  • Assist with the computation of federal and state credits
  • Assist with preparation of significant tax items such as transfer pricing studies and state apportionment compilation
  • Research technical tax issues impacting the federal and state returns
  • Provide federal and state audit support
  • Communicate with attorneys, tax specialists, and outside accountants/auditors to ensure timely tax reporting requirements.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of the job

      Required Education:

      • Bachelor's degree with major in accounting.
      • Minimum 3 years of tax experience in tax provision (ASC 740) and tax compliance
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
      • Masters in Tax or interest in obtaining this degree a plus
      • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant or an interest in obtaining certification
      • Excellent quantitative, analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
      • Desire to continuously learn and update your tax knowledge
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
      • Proficiency in online tax research tools.
      • Interpersonal ability to work well in a team environment.
