About This Role

The position of Category Analyst resides within the direct materials sourcing team and provides support to the Category Managers related to savings, reporting, metrics, contracting and supplier relationship management.  In addition, may lead and have oversight over a certain set of suppliers.  This role will report into the Associate Director, Global Strategic Sourcing, Direct Materials.

What You'll Do


  • Performs analysis and reporting of all savings tracking and category performance management. Develops procedures and tools to support the process. Makes system updates as needed.

  • Participates in Category Management strategy planning.

  • Establishes templates and reporting capabilities for Direct Materials Category Management.

  • Supports sourcing, negotiating and contracting strategies to achieve category goals.

  • Supports category implementation for sourcing playbook development.

  • Supports supplier management activities (business continuity, risk, QBRs, forecasts review, capacity planning), ensuring the appropriate level of oversight, direction and development based on the defined criteria.

  • Performs pricing updates and cost modeling in alignment with Category Management teams to support business cases and ongoing what-if scenario building for category strategy development and sourcing efforts (initially supporting the process and developing models as needed).

  • Ensure market competitive sourcing. Initiates market studies for various categories to identify market trends. Monitors the market to understand leading practices and changes in market conditions.

  • Lead events/projects in line with category segmentation.

  • Responsible for maintaining certain information for assigned suppliers such as gathering and issuing forecasts, sourcing rules and adding/updating item information in Oracle system

Who You Are

You are a procurement professional with experience in GMP materials sourcing, contracts and negotiations.   You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts to develop process improvements and evolve category strategies.

Required Skills


  • Knowledge of cGMP's and governing policies with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a GMP regulated industry

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing and preferably category subject matter expertise in Direct Materials)

  • Enhanced data analytics skills - ability to combine and analyze spend, forecast and external opportunities utilizing MS Excel, Power BI, Business Objects, and Tableau to generate clear reports supporting the Category Managers on developing category strategies and support analytics for Contract negotiations.

  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with negotiation of contract and commercial terms and conditions preferred

  • Demonstrated understanding of cost modelling and associated tools.

  • Ability to work effectively across functions.

  • Can organize and analyze large volumes of data to draw effective conclusions.

  • Ability to gather relevant information from internal and external sources to research, analyze, form insights and resolve issues.

  • Strong analytical and financial/quantitative skills

  • Knowledge of the Source-to-Pay process.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle or equivalent EBS and ability to update EBS Settings (Define sourcing rules, sourcing assignments, fixed lot multipliers, lead times)

  • Able to generate metrics and gather internal feedback on supplier performance related to periodic business reviews.

Education


  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • CPSM preferred
