Job Description:

The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.


This classification level, under general supervision, is responsible for assessing in monitoring, coordinating activities associated with supervision of low-risk clients; assist in the preparation of investigative reports; preparing alleged probation violations; coordinating and administering client assessments; arranging and conducting alcohol and drug testing on clients; initiating and monitoring treatment referrals as well as payment of fines, restitution, and community service.



JOB DUTIES

1. Meets, interviews, and confers with clients through office meetings, monitors and documents progress. Gathers demographic, driving and criminal information. Explain terms of probation to individuals and make appropriate referrals consistent with court order. Administers alcohol and drug tests.


2. Assists monitoring clients through Electronic Reporting Services (ERS) and other means under direction of a Probation Officer to ensure compliance with court regulations. Track and monitor cases within and outside of the jurisdiction as directed.


3. Prepares, updates, and submits a variety of reports and/or databases including but not limited to progress updates, court appearance paperwork, home-visit logs, and location reports.


4. Answer questions, refers, and verifies the completion of probation conditions, including restitution, community service, substance use programming, defensive driving, and any other court-ordered interventions. Verify the payment of fines and court costs, etc., and report any violations to the Chief Probation Officer or designated officer.


5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.

Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in criminal justice, office management, medical/laboratory, or a related area. OR, One year of experience as a drug technician, office management, secretary/office support or related position. Consideration will be given to candidates receiving their degree within 120 days of application.


All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

  • Ability to effectively organize time, set priorities, and work under stressful conditions.


  • Ability to meet recurring deadlines.


  • Interviewing clients.


  • Tracking clients' location(s).


  • Utilizing probation and protective techniques.


  • Applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations.


  • Preparing activity reports and updating databases.


  • Operating computers and applicable software applications.


  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the public, and other stakeholders to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.





PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



Incumbents may be subject to travel.



Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires use of arm and/or leg controls and exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work.
