Hays is partnering with an extremely reputable civil general contractor in New York City who is looking to add a Senior Estimator to their team. We have worked with this company for the last 8 years, and they have gone from 15 people to 90 people with incredible retention on staff. Their estimating team has been doing amazing work in scoring 2 different 250 million dollar projects, with one of them being a design-build project. They continue to bid on interesting and large projects to ensure every day you walk in is a new adventure.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project scope and requirements.
Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals for submission to clients.
Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Monitor and update cost databases and estimating software to reflect current market conditions.
Participate in pre-bid meetings and presentations to clients.
Provide support during contract negotiations and project execution phases.
Mentor and guide junior estimators and other team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in civil engineering projects.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
