Summary of Responsibility:

Morris South is seeking a daring and conscientious Sales Manager to report to the VP of Sales out of Charlotte, NC location. This role will provide exciting opportunities to grow with a multifaceted company in a fast-paced industry.

What You Will Contribute:

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading a defined sales staff daily including performance reviews, mentoring, and counseling to build motivation and selling skills. This person will maintain accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports submitted by Capital Account Managers. Other duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Lead a team of six (6) Capital Account Managers, drive accountability across the team for meeting sales quotas, metrics, and proper use of the company's CRM and sales tools in the Huntsville, AL territory (AL, TN, MS, AR).

  • Actively coach sales team and nurture a culture of continuous learning and development; spend majority of time in field with sales staff, participating in joint sales calls and providing continuous feedback.

  • Maintain sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

  • Maintain sales staff work results by counseling employees; and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results through quarterly scorecard reviews.

  • Build annual business plans and sales strategies; initiating and coordinating these plans to penetrate new markets.

  • Set, review, maintain, and manage sales staff to specific goals and measures.

  • Develop and maintain partner relationships with clients and vendors to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Reconcile territory sales activity and commission reports; integrating department activity into the CRM system; promoting and ensuring the use of Salesforce.com by sales team.

  • Optimally collaborate with other internal stakeholders (Productivity, Engineering Service, etc.) to ensure a flawless customer experience.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications & Competencies:


  • The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in sales management with extensive experience in all aspects of supplier relationship management, sales processes, and customer/ market dynamics; experience must be with an engineered product sold into the traditional manufacturing spaces such as: aerospace; automotive; oil & gas; and metal forming/fabrication.

  • Knowledge of the CNC industry is highly preferred but not required and/or experience with an extended capital equipment sales cycle.

  • Possesses a strong coaching and mentoring mind-set: consistent track record of effectively coaching and mentoring a team of technical sales professionals and the ability to lead and encourage the team to elevated performance.

  • Additional personal competencies: focused; results-oriented/strong sense of urgency; positive relationship builder and collaborator; adaptable and flexible but respectful of process; strong strategic-thinker.

  • The Sales Manager will spend up to 80% of time in the field traveling with sales team in surrounding territories.
