Duties & Responsibilities:

VIAVI has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Program Manager to join our R&D organization! In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:


  • Create, manage and track TECHNICAL projects. Including:



    • Project schedules


    • Cost Estimates


    • Status reports


    • Risk management


    • Policing the development processes




  • Manage day to day activities of projects and staff; and communicate with project teams as required to ensure project deliverables are on schedule and meet requirements


  • Ensure that Business Unit, Software and Hardware groups are coordinated on deliveries


  • Resource planning in conjunction with the Product and Program Managers


  • Manage the full agile life cycle of software development


  • Management of systems based on existing products and modules (In-depth knowledge of hardware module development not required)


  • Support the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope


  • Promote company quality practices using the guidance provided to assist the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables and meeting the Definition of Done (DoD)


  • Motivate and coordinate inter-team cooperation to ensure the team operates efficiently


  • Establish and drive project goals with a key focus on delivery


Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:


  • Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a similar related discipline


  • Optical / Electrical Telecommunications Engineering background, with technical project/ product management skills within a product development company


  • Experience in managing Linux based GUI development projects.


  • Good planning skills and experience with product development


  • Telecoms knowledge is highly desirable and would be an advantage


  • Strong collaboration and team working skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships cross-functionally and across all levels


  • Able to influence senior stakeholders and business owners


  • The ability to influence change and lead by example


  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and inspire at all levels


  • Comprehensive communication skills, both verbal and written


  • The ability to manage complex and multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment


  • Proven proactivity and drive


  • Ability to solve significant and unique issues using in depth evaluation of variable factors
