Work Schedule :

100% FTE, days. Monday - Friday, eight-hour days between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. No weekends, holidays, or on-call. You will work at East Madison Hospital in Madison, WI.

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient and acute/emergency medicine care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to:


  • Provide complex symptom management recommendations.
  • Work in collaboration with the Palliative Care Medical Director, attending medical team, and Palliative Care Team members to deliver palliative care to patients in the acute care setting with life-limiting chronic diseases.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and family by utilizing concepts of motivational interviewing.
  • Perform assessment process to include patient history, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual assessment.
  • Provide support, counseling, and information to patients and families dealing with end-of-life issues or with issues related to life-threatening or serious and complex illness.
  • Facilitate patient/family conferences as related to palliative care or hospice.

Education :
If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program.
If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program.

Licenses and Certifications :
Minimum - State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
If Nurse Practitioner*:


  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Adult; Adult/Gerontology Acute Care; Adult/Gerontology Primary Care

If Physician Assistant*:

  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active PA board certification

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
