Purpose of Position:

The CNU College of Social Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas in Fall 2024 and beyond:




  • Principles of Microeconomics

  • The Economic Way of Thinking

  • Principles of Macroeconomics

  • Environmental Economic Literacy for the Citizen




Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of related graduate course work. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
Departmental Information:

The Department of Economics at Christopher Newport University is composed of 8 full time faculty who seek to provide students an outstanding liberal arts education. The Department offers a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics, a concentration in mathematical economics and a minor in economics. Our faculty integrates the liberal arts with the core functional areas of economics and the quantitative competencies needed to address important economic and public policy challenges. Department faculty are dedicated teachers-scholars who emphasize high-quality classroom instruction informed by their research and professional activities. Faculty are also committed to providing students a variety of extra-curricular opportunities to add breadth and depth to the classroom experience. These efforts include involving students in faculty research projects, hosting internationally known speakers, and club-related activities that develop both professional and leadership skills.
