Position Summary:

Provide maintenance and repair on Utility Plants, Utility distribution systems, Satellite Boilers, and related equipment including locating, diagnosing, and making repairs to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all equipment.


Conditions of Employment:



  • This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, position will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed and is subject to overtime.

  • Incumbent will be required to participate in the Facilities Management on-call program.

Required Qualifications:



  • Valid driver's license.

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • EPA Universal Refrigerant License or able to obtain within 6 months of employment.

  • Experienced in the use of hand tools, power tools, gauges, and equipment used for maintenance and repair.

  • Experience with computers.

  • Ability to deal effectively with supervisors, peers, and customers.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment, such as ear plugs, muffs, all cotton clothing, and steel-toe shoes.

  • The applicant must be able to work in possible high-heat environments and/or enclosed spaces.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, diagnose, and repair Chillers, Cooling Towers, Steam Boilers, Hot Water Boilers, Utility distribution systems, and related equipment.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.

  • Knowledge of Utility Plant and Utility distribution systems construction methods and codes.

  • Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair, of Utility Plants and Utility Distribution systems.

  • Experience with meters, gauges, and tools used in electrical troubleshooting.

  • Experience in the use of meters tools and equipment used in boiler troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Building Automation systems.

Up to $50,000; commensurate with experience.
