Primary Responsibilities:

Primary ResponsibilitiesPurpose of Job: The simulation and skills lab intern will help prepare skills and simulation stations, organize supplies, and help maintain the inventory list.



Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Facilitates simulation and skills lab activities.

  • Promotes congenial and professional communication with fellow employees, students and community.

  • Monitors available learning resources to ensure the materials are consistent with current nursing standards.

  • Create a learning environment that is safe, respectful and interesting as well as fair for students from various cultural backgrounds, gender identities, races, ability levels, and developmental needs.

  • Play an active role in the maintenance of academic standards.

  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty to promote positive relations.

  • Carry out all responsibilities and objectives in a professional manner.

  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers while fostering positive working relationships.

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures established by the Texas State System, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and Sul Ross State University.

  • Other duties as assigned.





Supervision:
Direct supervision from Dr. Minerva Gonzales for day-to-day instruction. Dr. Gonzales will also act as the Faculty Mentor within the STEM Internship Program. General instructions and work periodically reviewed by department among the nursing faculty and staff.

STEM Internship Program:This position is part of the Title III STEM Lobotrack to Success (LTS) SRSU STEM Internship Program. Along with the normal job duties, the student will learn from the faculty supervisor about the STEM workforce, different career pathways, research, and more. Students will gain knowledge, experience, and professional connections in the STEM field. Students will have access to professional development tools throughout the internship program (resume building, interview practices, etc.). Additionally, the student must present at the SRSU Student Symposium. For more questions regarding the internship program, reach out to Amanda Barrera (

All other duties are assigned unique to the department. Responsible for the personal safety and the safety of others. This position is security sensitive.
